Food Sensitivity testing

Food intolerance* is quite different to food allergy and whilst the symptoms can impact one’s quality of life they are not life threatening.  Food intolerances are much more common than food allergies.

Food intolerance* exhibits as a range of symptoms including gut symptoms, bloating, headaches, migraines, low mood, fatigue, weight gain and skin problems.

With over 45% of the population reacting adversely to foods that they eat, which whilst not life threatening, can have a massive impact on someone’s quality of work and home life.

Symptoms of food intolerance can take up to 72 hours to appear after eating the trigger food or group of foods.  On average people who suffer from food intolerances usually have between 4 and 8 trigger foods.

Many people suffer for years, having formed a coping mechanism to deal with the symptoms but being unable to enjoy a normal work and home life.  Many people don’t realise that there are easy steps to take that could resolve their condition.

Lorisian, has over 35 years’ experience, specialising in laboratory tests that measure food triggers (food-specific IgG antibodies).  Their results offer a fast track or starting point for an elimination diet.  The tests are aimed at those that may have food intolerances, and those who want to optimise their diets by avoiding any foods that they are reacting to.

Claire's Story

Claire Sampson, 32 - “I can now wear my wedding and engagement rings again”

Claire sought advice from her GP and dermatologist but was told there’s nothing she could do to get rid of her skin condition.

Claire’s continual battle with inflamed eczema left her unable to wear her wedding and engagement rings.

From July 2017 onwards, her itchy eczema then developed into arm pain and her skin began to peel.

Claire sought advice from her GP and dermatologist but was told there’s nothing she could do to get rid of her skin condition.

The food intolerance test revealed she was intolerant to cow’s milk, yeast, carrot and avocado.

Within a week of her elimination diet, she noticed a “huge change” and has seen further improvements since. Her eczema looks like “it was never there” and her battle with the skin condition is now over.

Claire Sampson had suffered from intense eczema for many years but, it was not until July 2017, she began to experience arm pain, along with peeling skin. The swelling and itch of her eczema left Claire unable to wear her engagement and wedding rings.

“I’ve been to the doctor several times and received steroid creams which didn’t seem to help,” says Claire. “I was sent to a dermatologist who just said eczema is something I’ll always have and there’s nothing I can really do to get rid of it”.

Before Lorisian

Testing

The 32-year-old administrator came across Lorisian’s parent company, YorkTest, after her mother had taken a test previously. “I read the reviews and saw that it had helped people with eczema,” she recalls.

The process, which involves sending a finger prick blood sample to the company’s laboratories to be analysed for reactions to up to 162 food and drink ingredients, revealed that Claire had reactions to cow’s milk, yeast, avocado and carrot.

The next step for Claire was to eliminate her food triggers that could be aggravating her skin condition. The elimination process was, at first, challenging for the 32-year-old; It was “hard to begin with but I’m used to it now” after the nutritional consultation allowed her to explore other food alternatives, Claire explains.

“I’ve been to the doctor several times and received steroid creams which didn’t seem to help,” says Claire. “I was sent to a dermatologist who just said eczema is something I’ll always have and there’s nothing I can really do to get rid of it”.
