What is

Nutritional

Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy follows a holistic approach to maintaining optimal health and wellbeing encompassing health, diet, and lifestyle. Each individual is treated uniquely as we are all different with our own particular requirements.

An in-depth health assessment of potential nutritional imbalances is made to identify how these issues maybe affecting symptoms and overall wellbeing.

This evaluation is used to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health.

It is relevant both for individuals looking to enhance their health and wellbeing and for those with chronic conditions wishing to work with or 'consult' a nutritional therapist in collaboration with other suitably qualified healthcare professionals.

Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical advice.

What to expect?

BEFORE THE CONSULTATION

You will receive a detailed health questionnaire to complete together with a five day food diary which should include 1 weekend day. These need to be returned to me prior to the initial visit, ensuring our time is spent efficiently.

DURING THE CONSULTATION

An initial consultation typically lasts 60 - 90 minutes, and in this time the detailed health assessment covering questions relating to current health concerns, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, medical history, family history, lifestyle, levels of physical activity, use of medication, supplements and diet are discussed.

Your individual needs are evaluated and a personalised, safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle programme created. The plan will take into account lifestyle, cooking habits, and food budget making sure your individual requirements are met and the plan is workable for you.

AFTER THE CONSULTATION

Your personalised therapeutic plan is then sent to you, showing your goals, explanations of why these proposals have been made and how they relate to specific symptoms. Proposed lifestyle changes may also be included along with supplement suggestions and optional testing if required.

This will be followed up with a phone call so you have the opportunity to ask any questions relating to the plan.

Follow-up consultations are dependant upon individual requirements, but would typically follow one of the 3 programmes.
